London based producer and solo artist Gaudi's latest project, No Prisoners will be released on March 23, after a very fertile year in which the renowned artist toured the world, rocking dance floors and gathering fans with his unconventional innovative performance style and irresistibly floor friendly tunes. It was also a year where Gaudi was nominated for a BBC World Music Award for his Six Degrees release, Dub Qawwali (in which he added all new reggae & dub production to rare and previously unreleased tracks by the revered Pakistani vocalist Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan). On his previous releases, Gaudi has worked to create his own unique synthesis, using elements of dub, electronica and world music producing tracks that have been mostly down-tempo in nature. No Prisoners is a very different and definitely up-tempo creation. Stylistically its primary energy comes from breakbeat influences underpinned with fat basslines and subtle live world instrumentation such as Oud and tribal percussion.
Six Degrees Records, in association with the Generation Bass blog & Fairtilizer, are happy to be offering you the opportunity to remix No Prisoners' lead single "Bad Boy Bass" - a floor shredding homage to the chest -rattling, speaker-shaking power of the all mighty bass.

8. All remixes submitted for this contest become the legal property of Six Degrees Records. Your remix contest submission becomes the legal property of the record label hosting the competition as protection against the release of unauthorized remixes.

With his second album,Fondo (the Road), Vieux Farka Touré, stepped confidently into the international spotlight, with an album that featured everything from gorgeously haunting African blues to scorching, guitar based rockers and African Reggae. Now the tracks on Fondo have been remixed by some of electronica's finest, and the resulting project, Other Roads: Fondo Remixed charts a new course in "Future Afro" sounds. Remixers include Bigga Bush, Bluetech, Yossi Fine, Tamir Muskat (of Balkan Beat Box), Brownout,J-Boogie, Sabbo and many more.
Alice Russell's funky, soulful masterpiece full length, Pot Of Gold, has been given the world class remix treatment from an all star cast of producers. Remixers include Mr. Scruff, DJ Vadim, J-Boogie, Shawn Lee, Ohmega Watts and many more!
Brownout is the psychedelic Latin funk alter-ego of the acclaimed ensemble, Grupo Fantasma. 2008 saw the release of Brownout's critically lauded debut album Homenaje released on the influential UK label, Freestyle Records which made waves around the world amongst DJs, tastemakers and music fans alike.The Austin Chronicle called it "the sleeper hit of the year" and the band garnered features in such taste maker publications as Waxpoetics and XLR8R. For much of '08 the musicians toured as the infamous Grupo Fantasma, playing 150+ shows including backing up Prince at Coachella and on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno," visiting 8 countries (even Iraq and Kuwait), and making appearances at Bonnaroo and the New Orleans Jazz Fest. Somehow they even found time to release Grupo Fantasma's Sonidos Gold album, which received a Grammy nomination.
Brownout decided to waste no time and use this unstoppable momentum, hitting the studio in winter 2008 to begin recording the follow up to their cult-favorite debut. The resulting record, Aguilas and Cobras (Eagles & Snakes) features their trademark "hardcore latin funk" coupled with generous amounts of psychedelic experimentation and anchored by driving Latin percussion and lots of electric guitar interplay. This crew of musicians has deftly avoided the "retro" and "revival" tags with pride, never falling into generic cookie-cutter funk mold. Aguilas and Cobras continues to carry the Afro-Latin funk torch into the future by creating fresh grooves which are timeless, honest and filled with their own unique vibe.
Brazilian singer-songwriter Céu, who instantly grabbed worldwide attention with her Grammy-nominated debut album (2007), returns with a fresh new album, Vagarosa, out on July 7th. For this new release, Céu teamed up with her old accomplice, artist/producer Beto Villares to produce and record her new compositions. In the process, they also involved producer and engineer Gustavo Lenza (Céu's touring engineer for the past 4 years) and soundtrack producer Gui Amabis, who has collaborated with Céu on the Sonantes project.
Fondo, Vieux's newest effort and his Six Degrees debut, is more than a stirring mix of traditional instruments and modern production. More than a world music artist embracing the sounds of rock, it is the sound of a young man coming into his own.
Undersea Poem is a new Six Degrees signing featuring Chris Root and Juju Stulbach, formerly of the beloved band Mosquitos. Their music mixes haunting indie rock with Brazilian cool.
